Oasis Church Beliefs

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe and exists eternally as three co-equal persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present, never-changing, completely trustworthy, and holy. His very essence is good. He is our loving Father who is faithful to his people and his promises.

Genesis 1:1 | Genesis 1:26-27 | Genesis 3:22 | Psalm 90:2 | Matthew 28:19 | 1 Peter 1:2 | 2 Corinthians 13:14

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He lived a completely sinless human life, and is the only person to be completely human and also completely God. He was crucified on a cross, dying in our place for our sins so that we may be reconciled with God. After three days he rose from the dead to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven and will return again to reign as King of Kings.

Matthew 1:22-23 | Isaiah 9:6 | John 1:1-5 | John 14:10-30 | Hebrews 4:14-15 | 1 Corinthians 14:3-4 | Romans 1:3-4 | Acts 1:9-11 | 1 Timothy 6:14-15 | Titus 2:13

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the existence of the Holy Spirit as the third person of the Trinity (God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit.) We believe in the Holy Spirit’s interaction with man as a helper and comforter (John 14:16). We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit as manifested by the fruit and the gifts of the Spirit.

Acts 2:4 | Acts 10:44-46 | 1 Corinthians 14:4 | Galatians 5:23-24

The Bible

The Bible is God's holy written word. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the ultimate source of truth for Christians, giving testimonies of God’s character, stories of Jesus Christ’s life and ministry, as well as instruction and wisdom for daily life.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 | 2 Peter 1:20-21 | 2 Timothy 1:13 | Psalm 119:105 | Psalm 119:160 | Psalm 12:6 | Proverbs 30:5

Humankind was made in the image of God, created to be in a perfect relationship with him. We became alienated from Him through our own disobedience, which the Bible calls sin. We are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through our own efforts, which is why God sent his Son Jesus to take the penalty for our sin so that we may be reconciled with God.

Genesis 1:27 | Psalm 8:3-6 | Isaiah 53:6 | Romans 3:23 | Colossians 1:21 | Isaiah 59:1-2

You were created to exist forever. We believe that forever is spent in one of two places: eternally separated from God because of sin or in union with God because of His forgiveness and salvation. When you die, you will either spend eternity in heaven or hell. Eternal separation from God happens in hell. Eternal union with God occurs in heaven.

John 3:16 | 1 John 2:25 | John 5:11-13 | Romans 6:23 | Revelation 20:15

Salvation is God’s gift to you if you’ll accept it. We can never make up for our sin with self-improvement or good works. It is only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness that you can be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment you receive Jesus Christ into your life by faith.

Romans 6:23 | Ephesians 2:8-9 | John 14:6 | John 1:12 | Titus 3:5 | Galatians 3:26 | Romans 5:1

We believe that everyone is the steward of their life and the resources they receive, all of which ultimately belong to God; our ultimate Provider. We believe that honoring God with our tithe and offering is a Biblical mandate and the measure of obedience to the scriptural principles of stewardship.

Malachi 3:10 | Proverbs 3:9-10

We believe in the ordinance of water baptism by immersion of water in obedience to the Word of God. All those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior should be baptized in water as a public profession of their faith in Christ.

Acts 2:38 | 1 Peter 3:21 | Mark 16:16

We believe in the promise of Genesis 12:3 regarding the Jewish people and the Nation of Israel. We believe that Christians should bless and comfort Israel and the Jewish people. Believers have a Bible mandate to combat antisemitism and to speak out in defense of Israel and the chosen people.
